Viscera Film Festival Announces Its Official Selections for 2009-2010

Officially Selected Films Announced!

The Viscera Film Festival, a horror Film Festival that presents women created horror films from all over the world has announced the 2009-2010 officially selected Viscera films. Viscera judges Heidi Martinuzzi, Devi Snively, Elisabeth Fies, Stacie Ponder, and Shannon Lark are proud to present the following:

 

Barbee Butcher by Sophie Lagues

 

Beautiful As You Are by Doug Mallette and Mary Katherine Sisco

 

Hollywood Skin by Maude Michaud

 

I Spit on Eli Roth by Devi Snively

 

Mary Jane Go Round by Ginnetta Correli  (Viscera Award Winner)

 

Mockingbird by Marichelle Daywalt

 

Salome's Picnic by Victoria Waghorn

 

Switch by Melanie Light

 

 

The Viscera Film Festival will have its first screening in the Spring of 2010 (date TBA) in Los Angeles, celebrating Viscera's 2009, 2008, and 2007's selections, accompanied with an award ceremony.

 

Each selected filmmaker will receive a Viscera Statue and filmmaker Ginnetta Correli will receive the 2009-2010 Viscera Award for her film "Mary Jane Go Round." The Viscera Award is a monetary award suited specifically for women coming together exclusively or creating films on their own instead of participating in cat fights and talking about hairspray.

Hello All,

This week we finish our shows dedicated to the After Dark Horrorfest: 8 Films To Die For IV. The festival runs through February 5th.

First, I'll be joined by director of the film "The Final" Joey Stewart. We'll talk about his film, how his background as an assistant director helped him in his feature directing debut, and what his directing style is. Plus, he'll give us a little "behind the scenes" info on some of the moments making the movie.

Then, director & writer of Clive Barker's "Dread"- Anthony DiBlasi- will talk to me about his film as well as adapting the short story into a feature, what his fear is, and his friendship with Clive Barker.

Then, the Undertaker will catch up with one of the stars of "Dread", Hanne Steen, as they talk about her career in England, her role in "Dread", and the "little surprise" Anthony had for her on set one day during shooting.









Featured music this week comes from the band Sunspot. You'll hear the following cuts:

Hello All,

This week we continue our shows dedicated to the After Dark Horrorfest: 8 Films To Die For IV. The festival begins on January 29th and runs through February 5th.

This podcast is all about the film "ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction". First, the Undertaker will talk to the film's director & writer Kevin Hamedani. They'll talk about the films plot and how the story relates to the United States in a Post-9/11 world. Then I will speak to two of the actors in the film- Doug Fahl and Cooper Hopkins. We'll talk about their characters, fighting zombies, and what it was like working with Kevin.

Hello All,

This week we'll begin dedicating our shows to the After Dark Horrorfest: 8 Films To Die For IV. The festival begins on January 29th and runs through February 5th.

First, I'm kicking it all off by welcoming the original Miss Horrorfest- Black Betty- to the program. We'll talk about the films in this year's festival as well as about Miss Betty herself- especially that scream! 

Then, I'll be joined by Brian Pulido, who is the director & writer of the film "The Graves". We'll talk about what the film's about, what it was like directing his first feature film, working with Tony Todd & Bill Moseley, and the difficulties shooting the film in Historic Vulture Mine in Arizona. He'll also tell you where you can go to buy official "The Graves" products as well!

Featured music this week comes from the soundtrack to "The Graves". You'll be hearing the following cuts:

1) "Frozen Ghost" by The Rosedales. You can also visit them here as well.

2) "Only a Matter of Time" by composer Jim Casella.

"An apocalyptic zombie film has just completed production titled The Duty of Living starring Juan Riedinger (Hardwired, Jennifer's BodyThe Day the Earth Stood Still). It was shot on a Red One camera in Danville, CA, a suburb of San Francisco. The film is about a young soldier’s return home after defending the nation from the zombie apocalypse."

2010 is here and what a way to kick off the year than by having Shannon Lark (Founder, The Chainsaw Mafia & Viscera Film Festival) and Stacie Ponder (Writer, Final Girl & AMCTV.com) join me for a two-part interview. This week we'll talk about the film they did together- Ludlow. Stacie was nice enough to send me a rough cut of the film and I can tell you it's an intense movie that delivers! We'll discuss how they shot the film, how they focused during the mishaps that occurred during the movie, and why they enjoy working together so much. Shannon will even give me her take on the infamous "Napkin Contract" she drew up on the Queen Mary, and her thoughts on life "post-Fangoria".

This is also the first podcast where we'll be featuring music, and the first featured bands are The Ratbags & Spider's Sideshow. We will be playing some tracks they did for Devi Snively's film Trippin'.
